Dana Asdourian

Dana Asdourian

Dana is a 38 year veteran of the fire service. He was a decorated City of Portland Firefighter for 30 years retiring in 2006. He served as Safety Officer for his last 14 years in the department. Dana served on Engine's 4, 5, and 9. He worked on Rescue 1 for 14 years. He was part of the departments Training Division and Recruit Schools for 15 years. He is also employed at Southern Maine Community College where he specializes in Tactics and Strategies, Firefighter Survival, Scene Size-Up, Engine and Ladder Company Operations, and Hazardous Materials.

Mike Clarke

Mike Clarke

Mike is currently a Captain with the City of Bath Fire Department and is a 24 year veteran of the fire service. A certified fire instructor, Mike has been instructing Hands-on Rapid Intervention and Self survival training as well as USAR programs for over 12 years. He has presented Hands-on Training at several national fire conferences including "FDIC" and "Fire/Rescue". He is a staff instructor at the New Hampshire Fire Academy, concentrating in USAR operations, Trench Collapse, RIT, Flash over and Firefighter Survival. He is a member of the FEMA/DHS USAR MATF-01 Task Force and responded to the World Trade Center on 9-11-01.

Doug Diem

Doug Diem

Firefighter Doug Diem is a 17 year veteran of the FDNY currently stationed at Engine 16 and TL7 on the east side of Manhattan.  TL7 is a “Special Operations” support truck for the Rescue and Squad Companies.  Doug worked in Engine 252 in Brooklyn for 5 years, and an additional 5 years when it became Squad 252 which is a Special Operations unit.  Doug is a Certified Fire Instructor and holds certifications at the technician level in RIT, Trench, Confined Space, Hazardous Materials, Collapse, Ice Water Rescue and Terrorism.

Mike Drew

Mike Drew

Mike is a 16 year veteran of the fire service. He is currently a Firefighter/Paramedic with the City of Biddeford Fire Department. He is a former Chief of his hometown volunteer department in Arundel, Maine. Mike's experience as an Officer in a small rural department allows him to understand the budgetary and manpower challenges similar departments face every day. Mike holds certifications in Extrication, Ice Rescue Technician, Haz-Mat Technician, and WMD. He has earned an Associates Degree in Paramedicine, National Registry Paramedic, and UMBC Critical Care Transport. He specializes in Building Construction, Rural Water Supply, and Strategy & Tactics for Rural Departments.

Steve Lyons

Steve Lyons

Steve worked 12 years for FDNY; first being assigned to Engine 63 in the Bronx, and then transferred to Engine 16 and Tower Ladder 7 in Manhattan. Steve was forced into retirement by a career ending injury in 2006. His certifications include RIT, Trench Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Hazardous Materials Technician, Collapse Rescue, Water Rescue, and Terrorism.

Patrick O'Conner

Patrick O'Connor

Patrick is a decorated Providence (RI) Fire Department Firefighter/EMT-C assigned to Ladder Company 4, one of the busiest ladder companies in the city. Prior to becoming a certified structural firefighter in 1989, he worked as a wildland firefighter in Colorado, Wyoming and California working for the USFS and BLM. Presently, Patrick serves as an HOT instructor for the Providence Safety & Survival Conference and has been a Maine Fire Training & Education State Fire Instructor for the past 17 years. His emphasis has been on Engine, Ladder and Special Operations Programs.

Derick Ouellette

Derick Ouellette

Derick is currently a Private with the City of Biddeford Fire Department, is an 11 year veteran of the fire service, and a veteran of the United States Air Force. As a fire instructor, he has been instructing Hands-on Firefighter Survival and Rapid Intervention training as well as Firefighter I & II for over 4 years. He has presented Hands-on Training to local area as well as out of state fire departments. His other certifications include EMT-I, Rope Rescue, Trench Rescue, Below Grade Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Aircraft Crash Rescue, Hazmat and RIT Train-the-Trainer.

Dave Thorne

Dave is an 18 year veteran in the fire service, and is currently a Lieutenant for the Biddeford Fire Department. He is a certified fire instructor that holds certifications in RIT, Collapse Rescue, Trench Rescue, Low Angle Rescue, USA&R Operations, and Hazardous Materials. Dave has been a Maine State Fire Instructor for the past 9 years and has taught for York County Fire Chiefs Association for the past 11 years.

Ken Thorpe

Ken Thorpe

Ken is a 25 year veteran of the fire service serving both in volunteer and career environments. He is in his 5th year as a firefighter/paramedic with the City of Biddeford Fire Department. Ken is a Fire Instructor I from the National Fire Academy, and holds certifications in Urban Search and Rescue, Hazardous Materials Technician, Confined Space Rescue Technician, Ropes/Rigging, Slope Rescue, RIT, Firefighter Survival, and Industrial Fire Brigade. Ken has instructed for York County Fire Attack School and Cumberland County Fire Attack School.
